Solomon @ Springerfest 2017

On Sunday April 2nd, Solomon were honored to play Springerfest 2017, at the Orange rooms, So17203171_10158247989610262_1442760733717686973_nuthampton. A 10 hour music festival showcasing a dozen local bands in aid of the Dorothy Springer Trust, which helps disabled children in Sierra Leone with education and life prospects.

The Dorothy Springer trust story… A disabled boy from Sierra Leone, afflicted by childhood Polio, is sponsored by a secret benefactor from England. It changes his life forever. Sadly for Dr AbsDumbuya, after a long search he only discovers the name of the person who lifted him out of poverty, hardship and provided him with an education after her passing. Unable to thank her, Dr Abs Dumbuya establishes the Dorothy Springer Trust in her honour, reaching-out to disabled and disenfranchised kids from Sierra Leone to make a better life for them through education and training in computing.  (http://www.dorothy-springer-trust.org.uk/

The total raised so far is £1,166; through a combination of online donations (http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Springerfest) and on the door ticket sales.

Solomon had an awesome 45 minute set and played several new songs to an eager crowd. We were one of a dozen acts and totally rocked the house. Our thanks to the organisers, the Springer trust and the Orange rooms for all their support.

Solomon Launch & Charity Event

On Friday 25th November 2016, after a summer of songwriting, festivals and gigs around the South, the new Solomon line up took to the stage at the prestigious Railway Inn in Winchester supported by some stellar acts for their formal launch gig and to raise awareness for two superb charities.

Light Over Dark. The Solomon launch was a night of celebration and music based the themes of the band’s music – ideals to bringing people closer together; for hope to overcome hate. Solomon supported two vital causes on the night

#WhiteRibbon, men against domestic violence and homophobia, which seeks to educate young men on their attitudes towards women and stop the cycles of violence in society. You can find out more at www.whiteribboncampaign.co.uk

#1BlueString is a US-based music charity being brought over to the UK by Guardian journalist Ally Fogg, highlighting the 1 in 6 men who suffer sexual abuse and domestic violence. You can find out more at www.1bluestring.org and www.survivorsmanchester.org.uk

We were joined on the night by the wonderful Drew and DD Allen – find them at DD Allen Music; the superb acoustic magic of Jimmie Chills – you can find his music here; and the blues rock of Dave Evans and the Headhunters.

Many thanks to all our supporters who came on the night to support the band, the other acts and our charities.
