SOLOMON ON BBC INTRODUCING

#THEUNIVERSE

[Music & Lyrics M. Ansar]

It’s our absolute privilege to have been profiled by our friends at BBC introducing this week.

Following the tragic events in London on Saturday 3rd June 2017 and what has been a tough few days for so many people, we felt it right to wait to share this. We hope you don’t mind – there’s a time for solidarity and reflection and then there is a time for music.

Solomon were performing live on stage on the night of Sat 3rd June at The Joiners in Southampton. The pre-recorded interview is from our May #SolomonAtTheSocial. There’s an interview with Mo, lead singer of Solomon, on why he believes it continues to be important to keep speaking up for our freedoms, unity in our communities and for common British values, and not to be bowed to terrorism and extremism. Theres a place for great music, with a message. This is what Solomon does.

And so, here we are. FFWD to 27.45 to hear the BBC interview with Mo and Solomon’s latest track, #TheUniverse. We hope you enjoy it.

One of Southampton’s best known venues, The Social, is relaunching it’s regular live music evening to showcase the best of local talent on Wednesday nights at 21 Bannister Road, Southampton.

It all kicks off tomorrow on Wednesday 17th May 2017, with local Southampton band, Solomon, to host their first of a monthly residency at The Social.

Come to The Social from 8pm to 12pm this Wednesday to see Mo and Solomon’s debut hosting one of Southampton’s best nights of live music. Live acts start at 8pm, with a live jam between 9pm – 10pm and Solomon taking the stage at 10.30pm.

Following a high profile launch last year at the Railway Inn in Winchester, Mo and Solomon have become a regular part of the Southampton music scene playing their unique brand of original folk-rock with searing guitar solos and powerful lyrics about hope and change in the world. With Mo’s background as a journalist, campaigner and media commentator, Solomon now count amongst their growing host of supporters Radio 2’s Bob Harris, Dermot O’Leary and Fran from Travis. Solomon are currently working on their debut album and have a television documentary due out later this year.

Previous acts to have performed at The Social include: Akala, Hot 8 Brass Band (returning on 24th June 2017), Charli 2na (Jurassic Five) and the Cuban Brothers.

SOLOMON@ SPRINGERFEST 2017

On Sunday April 2nd, Solomon were honored to play Springerfest 2017, at the Orange rooms, So17203171_10158247989610262_1442760733717686973_nuthampton. A 10 hour music festival showcasing a dozen local bands in aid of the Dorothy Springer Trust, which helps disabled children in Sierra Leone with education and life prospects.

The Dorothy Springer trust story… A disabled boy from Sierra Leone, afflicted by childhood Polio, is sponsored by a secret benefactor from England. It changes his life forever. Sadly for Dr AbsDumbuya, after a long search he only discovers the name of the person who lifted him out of poverty, hardship and provided him with an education after her passing. Unable to thank her, Dr Abs Dumbuya establishes the Dorothy Springer Trust in her honour, reaching-out to disabled and disenfranchised kids from Sierra Leone to make a better life for them through education and training in computing.  (http://www.dorothy-springer-trust.org.uk/

The total raised so far is £1,166; through a combination of online donations (http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Springerfest) and on the door ticket sales.

Solomon had an awesome 45 minute set and played several new songs to an eager crowd. We were one of a dozen acts and totally rocked the house. Our thanks to the organisers, the Springer trust and the Orange rooms for all their support.
